Sexual Aphrodisiacs -Blame it on Adam and Eve for the first bit of the forbidden fruit; food and sex have always enjoyed a healthy relationship. Though it has not been truly proven that aphrodisiacs actually work on a sexual level, the mere belief certain foods, drinks, drugs, scents, or devices can arouse or increase sexual desire, libido, or improve sexual performance is enough for some of us.This belief that what we are smelling or eating is working may come from our greatest aphrodisiac known to mankind, our brain. Some types of aphrodisiacs may help to rectify sexual dysfunctions, become a part of foreplay or to enhance your sexual experience with your partner. However, regardless of the aphrodisiac it will never match the power of the meeting of the hearts and minds between two people in love. What exists inside us internally is more powerful than anything externally we may try, though some aphrodisiacs may help to activate our internal stimulants such electrical responses, glandular substances and other stimulants that are in the form of chemicals in the body. What Foods are Aphrodisiacs? Aphrodisiacs where named after the Greek goddess of sexual love and beauty 'Aphrodite' and because Aphrodite was born in the sea it is obvious that all things seafood have a reputation for being aphrodisiacs. Oysters over the years have gained a reputation as sex aid due to the high concentration of zinc in them that's a vital source for testosterone production. Some cuisines are better than others when it comes to an Aphrodisiac effect. Next time why not try a bit of Italian, Mexican, French, Indian or Chinese to spice up your sexual libido. Look for ingredients such as garlic, onions and even pesto sauce. Take away Chinese will have a whole new meaning now! Though it maybe due to the warming effect rather than an aphrodisiac effect such Spices such as cardamom, cloves, ginger, fennel and nutmeg, often used in Indian cuisine are also used in the act of sexual love. Ice-cream, chocolate or desserts with vanilla and mint may put a smile on your lovers face, probably more due to the fact that they taste nice. Failing that, a glass of champagne with strawberries and cream will put you in the mood for what's ahead. Plant aphrodisiacs include vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains. Listed below are a few fruits and vegetables and reasons why they maybe seen as aphrodisiacs. Asparagus & Artichoke There is a belief because of their appearance they posses special ingredients that have an aphrodisiac effect. Celery Celery seems to contain a male hormone called androsterone that is able to create sexual arousal in women. Bananas At the top of the fruit aphrodisiac list are bananas. They contain chelating minerals and the bromelain enzyme that supposedly improve male libido. Like most aphrodisiacs there is a lack of scientific evidence to support this theory. Ginkgo Nut By eating this kind of nut it improves your blood circulation around the body thus improving your libido. Oats Oats help to promote the release of testosterone in men thus improving their libido. Just remember the search for that quick fix, love potions made from bits of this and that will never match the aphrodisiac that's in your mind. Before you reach for the asparagus to revive sexual desire, first try sexual fantasies, different sexual positions and the good old erotic massage. Don't forget take aphrodisiacs with a grain of salt because if you believe it, it'll probably work. It's all in the mind. By Amazin Lethi: www.amazinlethi.com
