What is this feeling.
Looming upward from my gut.
Twisting my emotions
to leave me in this rut.

Those around me screaming
this action is not right.
My soul is left crying,
voices I can't fight

Look to see my longings,
feelings are so strong.
So much attraction,
how can this be wrong?

I tried to share my love.
Forcing truth to hide.
Afraid that someone,
would find out I lied.

Unable to acknowledge,
passions of my heart.
If the closets opened,
persecution will start.

I am lost in the darkness
With one hand on the doorknob
--D.L.M.

I began to come out of the closet on October 21, 1996. It's been an interesting time of personal growth. This poem is dedicated to sharing with you my personal experience with the coming out process.
