To that end a wide array of artistes gathered to entertain the party goers… Hayley Elliott sang three terrifically soulful numbers including ‘You Make Me Feel Brand New’ and ‘Midnight Train To Georgia’ while the exceptionally cute (and talented) Jamaican Dean Atta presented three pieces of spoken word about being young, black and gay. After a fashion show by local designers, the headline acts of the show perfomed: power vocal diva Angie Brown, X-factors Ashley McKenzie, rapper Mz Fontaine and disco diva Carol Jiana. Words and photos Chris Jepson The organisers of the Outburst UK Festival reported that more than 410 people attended the festival on the day and with the sun coming out in full force, their only regret was that they were inside, but as they said in one of their early mail outs, 'Let's get the party started' and you all certainly did. SATURDAY saw the Renaissance Rooms hosting the Outburst UK Black Pride Festival, a voluntary community organisation dedicated to nurturing pride and unity within the BLGBT community in the UK.
