The following poem is from a friend of Chris.
Off the hook, pret a porté
The real deal, no fake
Take....me for who I am
Not just what you see
For you are you....
and I am me
Undeniable character

Take or leave
Please don't grieve
Embrace all brothers
Rejoice and send love out
Disregard small minded thoughts from others
Mr crazy legs
He has passed...he is dead...only in body
As spirit lives on
To show us strength to carry on
Still sing that song
The task he started
Oh dearly departed
Stand up and be counted
Don't just fit in on down low
Let me tell you Chris
You will be sincerely missed
This is your story
This is your song
God loves you Mr dj
He holds you in his hand

Gone but not forgotten. I remember the 1st time we met, and we talked about life, and what it was to be a black man trying to live in a homophobic society.  Your talent was very obvious, and you shone like a becon. I am sure you are still shining up there in heaven!
Biggy C, London
Your spirit lives on Bruv, you are dearly missed but never forgotten. Love Yu.
Von D Jacobs, Brooklyn
As a dancer performer now living in Brooklyn I knew Mr. MCCOY only briefly, having met him at a club here called the Octagon, he was a nice person, he will be missed.
Jai Forde, UK
I can't believe it's been three years already. It still feels like you're here playing at Bootylicious and Heaven with your ghetto fabulous self. In your honour I am following your example to be proud, love myself and be true to myself. I miss you and your unique music playing formula!! God Bless xx
Nad, london
It's been 3 years since your passing. I still recall the first time I entered the Velvet Room that September evening, the joy of meeting you playing all those classic old school tracks I loved so much. The last time I saw you in Shoreditch we had such a good laugh and a long chat.
You are truly something else Chris!

How I used to admire him in pictures, but I never got round to telling him of my love for him.  Just returned from abroad and am deeply saddened to learn of his demise. I hope he can hear me 'Used to admire you so much Chris!'.  My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Thanks Chris for all your help and support over the years. Many people will not be aware of the huge contribution you have made in highlighting the issue of homophobia in the black community over the years. You helped in organising many events especially for the black gay community and beyond. You will be missed.

Extending deep and heartfelt sympathy.
Those who bloom in the hearts of others never die.
Like a leaf dropped onto a pool, the ripples of your loved one's life spread on and on to touch the lives of others.
Chris was a pillar of strength for me and a good example for young men, especially black ones wanting to make a stand for what they believe in.

Oh my God! I was shocked to hear of the sudden death of such a handsome and talented brother. I met Chris about three years ago and I was taken aback not only by his height, but his way of communicating, his spoken energy was energetic.
He had spoken in depth about his love of music and his musical background. I was looking. I knew that he would go on to do great things in the future. However, myself and my peeps in LA wish him a safe journey where he will bring great joy and passion to those around him. Chris, I love you!!!!

There are some souls who are destined to touch many in profound and lasting ways. Chris McKoy is one of those souls; his creative expression on the wheels of steel was an aural display of the beauty that existed in his heart and soul.
Chris embraced his sexuality and culture and fought for our rights in many diverse and creative ways.
Chris wherever you are I know Jah is with you and it is me who is blessed to have know you in my lifetime. You are missed and will never be forgotten. Bless-ed!

Nick De Marco, London
I was Chris' partner for about 3 years, from when he first moved down to London, and before he started as a DJ. He was a remarkable young man with more intelligence and charisma combined in one dynamic personality than almost anyone I have come across. I will never forget him.
