As the MP for Ealing, Southall, Piara Khabra won the elections with over twenty thousand votes. Mr Khabra was educated at Khalsa High School and Punjab University where he obtained a BA in social services.

Before being elected MP in 1992, Mr Khabra served in the Indian Armed Corps, dedicated 10 years to community work, and worked as a teacher in ILEA. He also has special interests in employment, education and race relations.
