23 Jan 06 GMFA, the gay men’s health charity, has just launched a new online survey aiming to discover how gay men feel about people being prosecuted for transmitting HIV. The survey is designed to find out what impact (if any) prosecuting people for transmitting HIV will have on gay men’s health, their feelings and the decisions they make about sex.
“Although there have only been six successful prosecutions in the UK for transmitting HIV so far, it’s highly likely that there are going to be prosecutions brought against gay men in the near future,” said Tim Molloy of GMFA. “Gay men still account for 80% of HIV infections that take place in this country. As such we feel that it is important for us, as a charity dedicated to improving gay men’s health, to discover how gay men feel about these recent convictions and the possibility of prosecutions being brought against gay men in the future.”
The online survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and will be online for the next few weeks. To access the survey, visit www.metromate.org.uk/survey
