A new website aimed at improving health and other services for black gay and bisexual men living in the UK will be launched at City Hall. The website has been designed with a view to providing up to date information and guidance to black homosexually active men on a range of services provided by the statutory and voluntary sectors.

The Black Gay Men's Advisory Group (BGMAG) is an independent body and was set up in 2003 by a small group of black gay men, both lay and professional, from a diverse variety of backgrounds and expertise, who wanted to respond positively to the many and varied needs of the UK's diverse black gay communities. The organization, which meets on a monthly basis, also offers practical support & advocacy, learning & development, community development and outreach to black homosexually active men. Additionally BGMAG seeks to generate appropriate dialogue with service providers so as to address the unmet needs of black homosexually active men.

Speakers at the launch will include Lee Jasper, Policy Director on Equalities and Policing, actor Cyril Nri of ITV’s “The Bill”, and Gerard McGuicken, Sector Development Manager, Terence Higgins Trust. Attendees will include health professionals and commissioners and other individuals seeking to encourage greater access to the services for homosexually active men living in the UK.
