Make Lemonade with Lemons PDF Print E-mail

When your back is against the wall and your options are less then limited this is when we learn how to make something from nothing and eventually learn how to make sweet lemonade from sour lemons.

Yes it’s an old simple saying, but so true to life.  The act of making a fruitful and productive life of lemonade with the sour and tart ingredients of lemons requires resourcefulness, creativity, and a surrendering to the universe which presides over you.

To take your situation of lack and deficiency and to have it multiplied into plentiful abundance and overflowing blessings is the very essence of making melodic and pleasant lemonade from bitter and acid lemon events and situations in your life.

Hence, your homosexual orientation is a beautiful spiritual blessing not a societal, bothersome burden.  Your HIV+ status is an empowering testimony on how to thrive in life, not just a trial on how to survive it.  Your lack of anything is only a portal for a transformation into the abundance of having everything you need to succeed, to soar, and to grow beyond what you are today.

There are three crucial steps in making bountiful lemonade with the sharp tasting lemons in your life:

1. Pursue nothing and surrender everything.
Instead of chasing what you believe you need, surrender all of your efforts and allow your footsteps to be ordered by a Higher Power.  Pray and meditate that your spiritual eyes be opened to the opportunities which surround you.  Ask that your life be intersected with the people, places, and things that you need.

Pursue nothing, but instead be guided by the spiritual forces that are conspiring for your good and be flexible, adaptable, and fluid enough to go with the spiritual flow, knowing that everything will come together for your good.

2.  Be it, live it, become it.
Instead of saying it, just live it.  Instead of claiming it, just be it.  Instead of working at it, just become it.  Surrender all of your fears, your hesitancy, and your former knowledge of what you think you know to be true about life and then venture into the realm of the unknown, with a continual conscious presence guiding and protecting you.

This is NOT a name it, claim it game, but instead an actualization of literally being whatever it is you were meant to be; thus making fruitful and aromatic lemonade with the lemons which surround you in your life.

3. Move forward, but don’t forget.
Finally, move forward emotionally, but don’t forget how far you’ve come.  Live in a forward motion, but don’t allow your memories of what you used to be to fade into non-existence. Exist forward, but remember how your Mother/Father/God kept you in your greatest time of need.

Be grateful, be thankful, and then share your testimony with others.  Personally, I don’t want to ever forget how the lemons in my life once forced me to eat a daily diet of croutons and cheese strips in my “valley” experience.  Although I thank God for the steak dinners that I can now afford today, never do I want to forget how near homelessness once banged on my front door, and how months living without utilities became the norm in my life.

By moving forward, life shows me exactly how God has blessed me and by remembering the past, it reminds me that when new “lemons” are tossed in my direction, how my willingness to be obedient, flexible, and guided by the Holy Spirit will triumph each and every time.  I truly welcome you to join me in my world of abundance, blessings, and peace.
