It is now easier for Londoners of all cultural groups to find their histories in venues across the capital.  A new website, www.untoldLondon.org.uk has been created at the Museum of London for the London Museums Hub, describing the events, collections and news from venues that cover culturally diverse histories.

The website's reporters have already explored stories across the capital, from Slavery Remembrance Day to lost languages of the Kalahari and the story of Black and Asian people who fought in the Second World War.

Editor Kate Smith said "More and more museums are reflecting London's diversity in their displays and collections, but the public don't always hear about this.  We wanted to create a resource so that all Londoners can easily find out where history events are happening that reflect their own roots.  UntoldLondon will signpost all the venues, big and small, where culturally diverse histories can be found."

The site covers not only museums, but also galleries libraries, archives and the work of community groups.

It will eventually cover every cultural community in London, but to begin with concentrates on Black and Asian history in time for October's Black History Month.

Inclusion on the site is free for anyone organising culturally diverse history events for the public.

The site was built at the Museum of London on behalf of the London Museum's Hub.  Technology and support is provided by the 24hourmuseum.org.uk
